With the beginning of the academic year, most CKI members have been concentrating on their studies and serving in their CKI Clubs. However, some very active students from Saint Leo University and Palm Beach State College have been busy building up their membership to charter their respective CKI Club.
Cassy Anselme, President at Saint Leo University, stated, “I am very excited, and I hope that more people will be interested in joining our club.”
Robert Dillingham, Kiwanis Club Advisor for Palm Beach State College, stated, “The club is off to a great start because of the excellent leadership qualities of their executive officers and the tremendous professional expertise provide by their Faculty Advisor, Professor Leonie Escoferry.” Note: Palm Beach State College submitted its chartering information and was received by Kiwanis International on October 12th.
As you can see, the Florida District is building new opportunities for leadership development through service around the state. Please encourage your friends that attend this colleges to check out what service projects are going on in their community through CKI.
Another CKI Club in the making is St. Johns River State College. The past-Key Club member who is getting the club going is attending Kiwanis events and has secured Kiwanis sponsorship. With these three new CKI Clubs, the Florida District will charter 4 new clubs- 2 in the Miami area, 1 in the Orlando area, and 1 in the Gainesville area.
All of these great strides cannot be possible without the enthusiasm of the students and the motivation and drive from the local Kiwanis Clubs!
If you have any questions or know someone who would like to charter a CKI Club, please e-mail JJ Sadler at clubbuilding@floridacirclek.org!
